The YAQ website has been live since January 2011 and we thought it was time to stop and reflect on the great content and stories that people and organisations have submitted for our news section. Without further ado, here are the YAQ Top 5 News items that received the most hits of 2011:

Coming in at number five, was Want to share your business skills with other artists? This news story was a call out for new Coordinators and Facilitators of the Navigation Arts Business Training. We had an overwhelming response to the call out and consequently engaged several new trainers, the full list of which can be found under the Navigation trainers page of the website.

Major Surrealist survey exhibition at GoMA, a media release from the Gallery of Modern Art, detailed the Surrealist exhibition at GoMA. This news post was our fourth most popular news post of the year.

An announcement news piece about $10 million worth of funding being committeed to the Australia budget by the Federal Government was number three for 2011. Federal budget: $10 million in new arts funding was certainly a headline that drew the attention of a couple of hundred of our readers.

Opportunities and inspiration are pretty big motivators for the inclusion of content on the YAQ website. The news story, Applications now open for Realise Your Dream, was the second most popular news story this year. The British Council always has an imaginative campaign for the Realise Your Dream applications round, it will be interesting to see what they come up with in 2012.

Alex’s news item detailing A three step plan to the perfect project budget was the most popular post on the YAQ website during 2011. In this blog, Alex takes newbie applicants through the construction of a project budget including gathering the information, compiling and laying out the content in the budget and checking it balances.
